My trip around the world will take me to Southeast Asia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, North America and possibly South America, starting in October 2008 and returning to Austria at the end of July 2009 at the latest. I bought my RTW-Ticket (Round-The-World-Ticket) on Sept. 15, 2008; it starts/ends in Zurich (closest airport from where my family lives in Austria) and will have stops in Bangkok (Thailand), Auckland (New Zealand), Nadi (Fiji), LA (USA), and NYC (USA). From NYC I might buy a separate ticket to travel to South America with a friend, if there is still time and money left ;-) So that’s the plan right now… (changes in italics)
1) Southeast Asia (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand): 3.5 months/4 months (October – January/changed to the beginning of Feb.) – CHANGED: stayed longer to do more scuba diving (my third liveaboard) and then stuck on waitlists for a while.
2) New Zealand (South and North Island): 5 weeks (February) – CHANGED: down to 4 weeks
3) Fiji (Nadi, Yasawa islands, Taveuni – Somosomo Strait): 3 weeks (March) – great island-hopping and scuba diving!!!
4) NYC (visiting friends): 1 week (beginning of April)
5) South America (Argentina, Brazil (Iguazu only), Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia): 3 months (April – June)
6) NYC: 1 month (end of June & July)
7) possibly Florida to visit Jenny and her family: 1 week (July)
…and back to Zurich at the end of July 2009 at the latest.
