Buenos Aires & VERENA´S PICTURES

Verena and I spent two lovely days in Buenos Aires – including a bike tour.

Tonight we´ll take an overnight bus (cama suite) up to Puerto Iguazu

PS: Ad mugging: did some research on the internet and also asked fellow travelers – it seems that every other backpacker got mugged at one point while traveling in South America. So Verena and I discussed some precautions to at least minimize the risk of getting mugged as we realized that we had made some mistakes in La Boca, where we ALMOST got mugged.

Skytower & new/old pictures uploaded :)

My last day in New Zealand I got lucky again: sunshine   still some (actually quite a lot but fast moving) clouds, but the sun peeking through a lot   I went to the post office to send some stuff home, met a girl from the magic bus, and then went up the SKYTOWER. Loved it, love views, had a great time up there   Then I did my laundry (which is in the dryer at the moment) and am now in an internet cafe (with a karaoke bar next to it – the singers are not amongst the best) to update my travel blog and also upload some pictures to my flickr account (click on one  of the 3 photos in the bottom right-hand corner to get to my flickr photo website). The pictures are from back in November when I was traveling in Laos (Cambodia and Vietnam are not up yet). The problem is that uploading the pictures takes a long time. But I’m trying! Just a little behind  Anyways, it’s fun looking at those pictures again – it seems like such a long time ago. My favorites are exploring the Bolaven Plateau on our rented motorbikes and 4000 islands (Don Det and the buffalos)

Tomorrow I’m flying to Fiji  where I’ll spend the next 3 weeks

And then I’ll be in NYC from 3/30-4/7  Can’t wait to see you!!!

Monsoon season is not over yet & PICTURES ONLINE NOW!

This is the first time in Thailand that I wake up in the morning and it rains - and it keeps raining, not just for the usual 30 min., NO, for 2 hours! I turn on the TV and BBC WORLD NEWS reports: “After all October is one of the wettest months in Thailand and this year it’s certainly keeping its promise…” Well, I was hoping that by coming to Thailand just BEFORE the peak tourist season starts, I would be lucky and avoid the crowds but still get all the good stuff. Agnes, remember how we had the same idea when traveling to Bulgaria in September. We weren’t as lucky as we had hoped, though, but still had fun ;-) Well, so the rainy season is not over yet, but it will be eventually… And in the meantime I am still enjoying my trip. I guess that’s the thing about going somewhere just before or after peak season: you can get lucky - or not.

I spent the day walking around the neighborhood and later went to the internet cafe to eventually figure out how to download pictures and then upload them onto flickr so you guys can finally not just read what’s going on while I’m traveling, but also SEE! I am glad I took this “USB2.0 All-in-1 Card Reader”, which I bought in NYC in June, with me and although I had never used it before it worked! I downloaded the pictures onto the computer and then uploaded some of them to flickr. It took me a while, also because the computers here are not the fastest. But it worked. So from now onwards you will be able to also SEE some of the pictures I take while I’m traveling around the world
